Project Overview

Marston Middle School is located in the Clairemont area of San Diego, California. The Marston Middle School project involves four components: an overall campus modernization including the existing administration, classroom buildings 100-300, music classrooms in Building 400, food service and P.E. locker rooms; a new gymnasium; new parking/drop off area; and a new joint-use field. The project will support the goals and vision of San Diego Unified School District: “to design and construct clean, safe, environmentally-friendly facilities that encourage successful teaching and learning.”

The project team will remove and replace existing portable structures in the northeast corner of campus with a new gymnasium, parking lot and student drop-off and pick-up zone. A new joint-use grass field is planned as part of the Play All Day partnership with the City of San Diego and will double as a community park after school hours and during school breaks. The project will also modernize existing classrooms and restrooms. Renovations will be made to student services offices, food services and physical education facilities. Finally, there will be a number of security enhancements to keep the campus safe, including a new modified point of entry at the main office where all visitors must check in during the school day.

The new gymnasium will feature a main entrance lobby and basketball, volleyball and badminton striping with six retractable basketball backboards. The grass playfield will include a walking/running track, a sprint track, long jump area and newly planted trees.
