Project Overview
Creating a place that looks and feels like home where you can care for people whose health is declining is no easy feat. This two-story memory care facility was designed to provide lifestyle-focused accommodations for residents with varying levels of cognitive needs. The 53,000-square-foot facility provides memory care in a residential setting. The community is comprised of four 鈥渘eighborhoods鈥 of 14 residents each, and each neighborhood has distinct interior design themes within smaller scale living environments.
When we build within senior living facilities, the 51国产视频 team strives to be a good neighbor to the residents. One of the challenges to this project was proximity to existing residents鈥 homes. Project team members went the extra mile to help the residents on a daily basis, supporting them in tasks such as backing out of their driveways safely, carrying heavy items and just being a friendly neighbor. Team members went door to door to communicate, daily if needed, any time we thought a resident would be impacted by construction. By keeping residents safe and informed, evaluation surveys showed that satisfaction scores from neighbors around the site went up during construction.
An example of our commitment to quality craftsmanship was the amount of time we worked with the architect and interior designer on lighting. As a team we wanted to find fixtures that would be effective and affordable and support residents with vision problems and issues with depth perception. The way light shines on a floor where it transitions from carpet to tile can lead an older adult to perceive an elevation change that could potentially cause a fall. This type of expertise helps make a senior living project more successful.
