Project Overview
For North Orange County Community College District鈥檚 Cypress College, 51国产视频 led the construction and renovation of the Science, Engineering, and Math Building (SEM), the Veteran鈥檚 Resource Center (VRC), the Student Activities Center and the Veterans Memorial Bridge, Tribute Garden and pond renovation.
Building on an active campus means safety and student access are key parts of the planning process. The project boundaries were right in the middle of campus. Our project team created a 鈥渟wing-gate鈥 system with wayfinding signage to allow students clear, quick and safe access.
The 106,000-square-foot SEM Building includes research and teaching laboratories, interactive student resource areas, multidisciplinary classroom and lecture spaces and conference rooms. It will serve as the campus collaboration hub. The Student Activities Center provides students with a recreation/game room, kitchen, study rooms, computer labs, conference rooms, counseling spaces, offices/workrooms and support spaces, and will house the International Student Program.
The Veterans Resource Center is the centerpiece of the Veterans Education Resource Complex, which includes a tribute garden, veterans memorial bridge and outdoor event plaza. The VRC offers essential educational support services to veteran students as they transition from active military duty to civilian life. The facility is equipped with private counseling rooms, social space and patio, computers and other technology, and will be designed to meet the unique needs of student veterans while they attend Cypress College.
